Steve and I are both members of the SWPP (The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) which is a great organisation as it is really progressive and actively encourages the professional development of its members.
I recently attended a course run by the amazing Lisa Beaney: "How to create the images your clients will love anytime, any place, anywhere".
The course was hosted at a Premier Inn in Bristol, and we were mostly using the ambient (or available light) at the venue, in order to show that great shots can be taken by a skilled photographer in any location chosen by a couple. We only added in extra light whilst photographing in the bar area.
You may think that this is obvious- and certainly Steve and I have photographed in all manner of locations, and always had great feedback from customers- yet there is always more to learn, and by going on professional development courses such as this, we aim to constantly improve and develop our skills, in order to deliver the best photographs to you. It is also really useful to be able to work with a 'bride' model and to have time to experiment with, so that these ideas can be put into practise seamlessly within the time constraints of a wedding day.
Here are a selection of images I took on the day. Our model Loretta was positioned in the following locations; by the window in the small meeting room, overlooking the car park; in the corridor opposite the vending machine, using only the wall light overhead; in the bar (this is the only shot with an with added light source); and in the car park.
Many thanks to Lisa Beaney, Loretta, Terrie from the SWPP, and to the other photographers in attendance, as it was a really informative and enjoyable day.
It was great to have the opportunity to meet and chat with fellow photographers, and the day was finished off with a beautiful rainbow, which is always a good sign :)
We are delighted to have been chosen to photograph Brymore Academy, a newly licensed wedding venue, situated beautifully in the heart of the Somerset countryside.
There are many gorgeous places within the grounds, including an 18th century orangery, and a stunning walled garden. There are views out to the Quantock Hills, and space within the grounds to house a marquee as big as you would like. It really is a photographer's dream, with many delightful features, such as the stunning tree-lined driveway, and little stream running beneath
The building itself has many unique features, such as the glorious 15th century porch; the Old Library, with its ten Georgian windows, creating a light and open space for your ceremony, seating up to 80 guests; the Headmaster's Suite, with its oak panelling and original bay windows, ideal for a more intimate ceremony, and seating 50 guests.
We recently attended the first ever Wedding Fair at Brymore, organised by the lovely Rosy at Box Clever Wedding. It was a fantastic day and such a pleasure to meet so many brides and grooms.

It was a beautiful day at Brymore Academy, a newly licensed wedding venue, when Jakabi Photography came together with a network of wonderful local Somerset/ Devonshire wedding suppliers in order to create this truly fantastic styled shoot.
A few months in planning, the concept was built around the idea of a 1950s wedding picnic, keeping in with the austerity of the times.
The colour theme was red, pink and peach, which can be seen running throughout the many elements of the shoot.
We can't say too much as this is all being published in a national bridal magazine very soon - we just wanted to give our loyal followers a sneak preview.
Supplier credits and links can be found at the end of this blog post- we recommend that you check them all out- what an amazing team! We are so proud of what we can all achieve, and we hope that this little preview will give you lots of inspiration in planning your big day- and of course, we would love to be a part of your day too.
